Thank you for your interest in TWC's Volunteer program!
TWC now has a team of over 200 Volunteers and we are continuously
looking for new people to assist in a variety of areas. If you are
an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is seeking to gain unique volunteer experience, then volunteering at TWC may be perfect
for you! Because TWC provides training to new volunteers, it is not
always necessary to have experience that directly relates to the
various Volunteer Opportunities. The right attitude and a
strong commitment
can go a long way!
Please take a minute to read through the Volunteer Opportunities listed below. Although these descriptions outline our existing
opportunities, we welcome any suggestions as to how you can help in
other areas.

Volunteer Driver
Everyday in the GTA, countless
animals become involved in situations that require immediate
attention. The majority of Volunteer Drivers are involved in
transporting sick, injured or orphaned wild animals from across the
GTA and beyond into the onsite hospital at Toronto Wildlife Centre.

Wildlife Foster Care Parent
Every spring and summer, TWC receives hundreds of
orphaned wild baby animals. Due to time and space limitations, TWC
cannot take on the immense workload created by the combined needs of
these babies. To remedy this, TWC fosters out litters of baby wild
animals to families that have the appropriate space and
environmental conditions in their home and enough time to support
the babies’ healthy development.

Hotline Volunteer
The
TWC Hotline was created to serve three main
objectives:
· Assess
calls about sick, injured or orphaned animals
· Help
resolve nuisance situations humanely and effectively
· Provide
general wildlife and wildlife habitat-related information
At present, the Hotline receives more than 30 000
calls per year and up to 200 calls a day during the peak period.
Because of the high volume of calls, the majority of callers are
directed to leave detailed messages that are reviewed by trained
members of the Hotline. Volunteers play an integral part in
transcribing messages and ensuring that situations of concern are
dealt with immediately.

Wildlife Care Volunteer
During the busy spring and summer seasons, there can
be upwards of 600 wild animals in care at Toronto Wildlife Centre,
with additional emergency cases arriving each day. Wildlife Care
Volunteers play an integral part in the rehabilitation of patients
by providing general care to the animals and assisting with facility
maintenance.

General Support Volunteer
Because of the high volume of animals that pass
through Toronto Wildlife Centre, an immense amount of resources are
dedicated to both maintaining the upkeep of the facility and
ensuring that supplies are cleaned and readily accessible for
Wildlife Care.
